MISSION STATEMENT   &   A  SINNER’S PRAYER:

DailySpurgeon  is a Website that we trust will be blessed of God to reach the lost and encourage, inspire and support believers to worship the one true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Audio and Print media is posted each day for this purpose. The Audio segment is a Sermon from Spurgeon’s Metropolitan Tabernacle (London, U.K.) and a Praise selection of sacred  music from the Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.

Our mission is to, “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”   Ecclesiastes 12:13.  He  desires us to worship Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength in Spirit and in truth.

To this end, Heavenly Father, we pray You will bless the instrumentality of DailySpurgeon.com  to provide  each visitor with encouragement and opportunity to worship You in spirit and in truth.   We ask also that You would bring many to saving faith in Christ Jesus and give them, and us all, a sustained and growing desire to follow the Lord Jesus as his disciples. We trust You Lord to  keep us faithful as You conform us to the image of Your only begotten son, Jesus Christ. I ask this in His name and for His sake, Amen.

.

28 … we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Romans 8:28-30

All glory to You, Father for Jesus sake. Help us in 25… not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25]

Rather,  help us assemble ourselves together more and more to worship, admonish and encourage one another to follow the Word as we see the day of the Lord’s return getting closer. Help us to sing Psalms, sacred hymns and spiritual songs and share good fellowship as we gather with the brethren in Christ Jesus,  Amen.

This Website will not, nor is it intended (were it possible),  to take the place of congregational gathering in Christian fellowship, gospel preaching, and worship.  Its purpose, rather,  is to encourage personal prayer, hearing the Word in Gospel preaching, Bible study, meditation, singing praises and consecration to the Lord Jesus in  renewed, active, personal discipleship.

“Study to show yourself  approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately comprehending and sharing] the word of truth.”   2 Timothy 2:15

Our aim is to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. He says,  “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man [person] cometh [comes] unto the Father but by me”  John 14:6

Jesus was lifted up from the earth, hung on the cross, giving up his life to save sinners, John 12:32  Therefore,  we pray that many should be saved, through faith in Jesus Christ and be eternally born-again. blood-bought children of God. This invitation is therefore for all non-believers that they would turn away from sin, and look to the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved.  We pray also that all believers will be built up and conformed to the image of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 8:28-30

The Memory of the Soul  Hebrews 9:22-27

The Bible speaks of an appointment that all will keep, when we shall stand before God to give account for our lives. Here is the role of memory (largely submerged now) that is revived for that decisive day. Here also is Christ's way of deliverance.

PRAISE: Praise Him, Praise Him  by Ernie Haase…be [be being] filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody [music] in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18-19

PRAYER 7.  Part 1 of 7  LET ALL T HE PEOPLE PRAISE THEE.
Part 1 of  7

OUR Father, when we read Thy description of human nature we are sure it is true, for Thou has [have] seen man ever since his fall [in Adam’s original sin], and Thou hast [have] been grieved at heart concerning him.

Moreover, Thou hast [have] such a love towards him that Thou didst not [You did not] judge him harshly; and every word that Thou hast [have] spoken must be according to truth. Thou hast [have] measured and computed the iniquity of man, for Thou hast laid it on the Well-Beloved [the Lord Jesus]; and we know Thou hast [have] not laid upon Him more than is meet [needed].

[Thank you In the name of the Lord Jesus,  Amen.]

ANECDOTE  184:   Faith and Healing.

If you believe his word you shall know the sweets of grace. To ask for more evidence first is as though a man should say,

“Here is a medicine prepared by a physician of great repute, and it is said to be very powerful for driving out the disease from which I suffer: I will take it as soon as I see that I am improving by its means.”

The man has lost his reason, has he not? He cannot expect even a partial cure till be has taken the medicine. He cannot expect the result to come before the cause. You must take the good Physician’s medicine as a matter of faith, and afterwards your faith will be increased by the beneficial result.

You must believe on the Lord Jesus, because of the witness of God concerning him, for that is all the witness you ought to wish for, and all that God will give you. After you have believed, other witnesses will spring up in your soul, as the results of faith, and so your confidence will be strengthened; but just now, beloved,

believe in Jesus Christ, and having believed in him you shall know that you are forgiven for his name’s sake.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK February 2  GROW UP by C.H. Spurgeon 1834—1892

-And ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall-  Malachi 4:2
-Y saldreis, y saltareis como becerros de la manada.-  Malaquias 4:2

Yes, when the sun shines, the sick quit their chambers [go out of their rooms], and walk abroad [outside] to breathe the fresh air. When the sun brings spring and summer, the cattle quit [leave] their stalls, and seek pasture on the higher Alps. Even thus, [so] when we have conscious fellowship with our Lord, we leave the stall of despondency, and walk abroad in the fields of holy confidence. We ascend to the mountains of joy, and feed on sweet pasturage which grows nearer Heaven than the provender [food] of carnal men.

To-go-forth   and to grow-up  is a double promise. O my soul, be thou eager [willing and ready] to enjoy both blessings! Why shouldst thou [should you] be a prisoner? Arise, and walk at liberty [freely]. Jesus saith [says] that His sheep shall go in and out and find pasture; go forth, then, and feed in the rich meadows of boundless love. Why remain a babe in grace?

Grow up.

Young calves grow fast, especially if they are stall-fed; and thou hast [you have] the choice care of thy Redeemer. Grow then, in grace, and in the knowledge of thy Lord and Savior. Be neither straitened [limited] nor stunted [a runt]. The Sun of Righteousness has risen upon thee [you]. Answer to His [sun] beams, like the [growing] buds [respond] to the natural sun. Open thine [your] heart, expand and grow up into Him in all things.

Prayer: Thank you Father that Your chosen, redeemed children will go forward and grow up, Amen.

MORNING   February 2

"Without shedding of blood [there]  is no remission. "— Hebrews 9:22
—Sin derramamiento de sangre no se hace remissión — Hebreos 9:22

THIS is the voice of unalterable truth. In none of the Jewish ceremonies were sins, even typically removed without blood-shedding.

In no case, by no means, can sin be pardoned without atonement.  It is clear, then, that there is no hope for me without Christ; for there is no other blood-shedding that is worth a thought as an atonement for sin.

Am I, then, believing in Him? Is the blood of His atonement truly applied to my soul? All men are on the same level as to their need of Him. No matter how moral, generous, amiable, or patriotic we are, the rule will not be altered to make an exception for us.

Sin will yield to nothing less potent than the blood of Him whom God has set forth as a propitiation [full-satisfaction for redemption]. What a blessing that there is the one way of pardon! Why should we seek another?

Persons of merely formal religion cannot understand how we can rejoice that all our sins are forgiven us for Christ's sake.

Their works and prayers and ceremonies give them very poor comfort; and well may they be uneasy, for they are neglecting the one great salvation and endeavoring to get remission without blood.

My soul, sit down and behold the justice of God

As bound [required] to punish sin;

[to] see all that punishment executed upon the Lord Jesus,

and [to] fall down in humble joy, and kiss the dear feet of Him whose blood has made atonement for you.

It is in vain [useless] when conscience is aroused to fly [run] to [find] feelings and evidences for comfort: this is a habit which we learned in the Egypt of our legal bondage.

The only restorative [remedy] for a guilty conscience is a vision of Jesus suffering on the cross.

"The blood is the life thereof,"

says the Levitical law, and let us rest assured that it is the life of faith and joy and every other holy grace.

Oh! how sweet to view the flowing Of my Savior's precious blood; With divine assurance knowing

He has made my peace with God.

EVENING   February  2

"And these are ancient things."— 1 Chronicles 4:22

—Que son palabras antiguas— 1 Crónicas 4:22.

YET not so ancient as those precious things which are the delight of our souls. Let us for a moment recount them, telling them over [and over] as misers count their gold.

The sovereign choice of the Father, by which He elected us to eternal life, before the earth was, is a matter of vast antiquity, since no date can be conceived for it by the mind of man.

We were chosen from before the foundations of the world. Everlasting love went with the choice, for it was not only an act of divine will by which we were set apart, but the divine affections [love] were concerned.

The Father loved us in and from the beginning. Here is a theme for daily contemplation. The eternal purpose to redeem us from our foreseen ruin, to cleanse and sanctify us, and at last to glorify us, was of infinite antiquity, and runs side by side with immutable love and absolute sovereignty.

The covenant is always described as being everlasting, and Jesus, the second party in it, had His goings forth of old;  He struck hands [fig. shook hands] in sacred guarantee of] surety-ship long before the first of the stars began to shine, and it was in Him that the elect were ordained to eternal life. Thus in the divine purpose a most blessed covenant union was established between the Son of God and His elect people, which will remain as the foundation of their safety when time shall be no more.

Is it not well to be conversant with these ancient things? Is it not shameful that they should be so much neglected and even rejected by the bulk of professing Christians?

If they knew more of their own sin, would they not be more ready to adore distinguishing grace? Let us both admire and adore tonight, as we sing:

A monument of grace,

              A sinner saved by blood;
The streams of love I trace

              Up to the Fountain, God;
And in His sacred bosom see
Eternal thoughts of love to me.

MISSION STATEMENT:

… Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.   Ecclesiastes 12:13

Our solemn  aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus in everything. We must rely upon God entirely to achieve anything; especially, His purposes in us and through us.

Loving and worshiping God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength in Spirit and in truth is a labor of love to every believer. Desire will grow stronger as we give ourselves to prayer, reading and meditating on God’s Word, gathering ourselves together to hear Gospel preaching,  the singing of Psalms, sacred hymns and spiritual songs, fellowshipping with other believers.

We trust, with God’s guidance and empowerment,  to reach the lost, comfort, strengthen and encourage believers, and  rightly divide God’s Word to proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ to every creature.

The Holy Bible is God’s eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable revealed and divinely preserved Word.  It is His completed scripture  of all revealed truth.  He brings guidance and the knowledge of His will to us personally and to each local body of Christian believers through His Word. With God’s help and empowerment, we will read, study, meditate-on, trust-in  and obey God’s Holy Bible and encourage others to do the same. We hold it to be the supreme authority and the preeminent and divinely established precedent [Stare Decisis   Latin: to stand by that which is decided, the legal doctrine of precedence, literally "to stand by decided matters"] in all things.

The purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish and share  the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature. And, to serve everyone, in love, especially those in the household of faith. We are compelled therefore, to follow, rightly divide and proclaim, God’s Holy Word, the Bible, God’s divinely preserved truth; the essential foundation of this ministry.

The Metropolitan Tabernacle: Home church of Charles H. Spurgeon
The  preaching, teaching, soul winning and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon are firmly  fixed on the bedrock of Holy Scripture. His entire ministry was established, empowered and inspired solely by God’s Holy Word imparted to him by the Holy Spirit.  His written works continue to bless, guide, challenge and benefit today’s readers through the publication of his authentic Gospel sermons and other inspired writing His ministry continues to thrive and flourish today through the Metropolitan Tabernacle a church begun in 1650  The present  building was constructed in 1861 and was rebuilt after the destruction caused during  the second world war. This church has been steadfast in it’s adherence to Reformed Baptist theology that Spurgeon  said was just a nickname for Biblical Christianity. They have resisted and continue to reject worldly winds of false doctrine, including pragmatism and self-centered “Christian hedonism”. Biblical Christianity will always show itself as a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, never just a philosophy or religion.

Mission Aim:     Spurgeon's sermons and devotional messages have been a great benefit, to all readers for many years.  We trust they will help strengthen personal discipleship in each and every believer and will be a useful instrument in the spreading of the Gospel [Good news] of Jesus Christ, the Messiah to all nations.

The Essence of the Gospel:

  • God is good  (HOLY) and not willing that any should perish.

  • Man is bad   (SINFUL) and hopelessly lost without God.

  • God made a way for sinners to be saved:

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, [The Lord Jesus Christ] that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.    John 3:16-17

Live-streaming of worship services from the Metropolitan Tabernacle with Dr. Peter Masters, pastor since 1960 in London, U.K.  Join us, won’t you?  (Schedule and links above)

Worldly influence, pop music and uncertain riches must not be allowed to compromise Gospel Preaching and Worship and believers must join a congregation  where the preaching of sound Biblical doctrine and sacred music is found as we worship the one true God in spirit and in truth.

Our Prayer: Dear Lord, by all means save souls and  Empower us to serve and minister to the lost and those in need, especially those in the household of faith. Revive, encourage, strengthen, and edify us as we  follow you. Help us to  share You, your lovingkindness, and the Gospel of your salvation.  May we pray fervently with  fasting according to your will and may we be the church triumphant in soul winning, and in all things holy as we follow You. In Jesus Christ name, Amen.

We offer ourselves with gratitude for your sacrifice at calvary, given to provide eternal salvation for all who believe. Accept our thanks for these and all other blessing we humbly ask in Thy name, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not solicit praise of  Charles H. Spurgeon or his writing or preaching.  He didn’t need it or want it and wouldn’t want it now.  Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM only and Him crucified.

Precaution: These Messages and prayers are not, nor can they be, a substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Nor do they replace personal reading and meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word or the gathering together of local believers.

The Authorized King James Bible (AKJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text)  avoids doctrinal error, ungrounded nuances, editorial notes or unsupportable readings 4efrom other codices.  It is distinguished further by the requirement of Great Britain that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. By order of the Crown, no other printing of a King James Bible may be imported into or copied in Great Britain.

Printed Prayer: The daily prayer in print does not substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. It is, rather, to warm the hearts of those who are seeking a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Revelation from God during  prayer is consistent with His revealed Word, the Bible.

Preaching Preparation:  If you would like to review a Spurgeon sermon parallel to biblical texts you may be preparing to teach or preach, please let us know the scripture reference and topic. We will research and send you a  selection with the same scripture reference or the  most closely related topic from Spurgeon’s work. It is our joy to make this available asking only that you give proper authorship credit. [Honor to whom honor is due…]  Thank you.

My Prayer: Dear Father,  please touch, lift up, encourage and teach all who read this.  Bless all ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your blessing and holy anointing fall fresh and continually upon each one who rightly divides and proclaims Your Word. Please save many souls;  all glory to You. I pray this in the name of our only Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Pray also that believers will be taught by the Holy Spirit and will rightly divide God’s Holy Word preserved by God, Himself.

vis. Textus Receptus [The Received Greek Text] (From the overwhelming majority of extant New Testament Greek manuscripts)

The Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not majority texts, [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of  the well-established and settled  texts.  They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand  for additional editions and interpretations.  These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in the majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the Textus Receptus Greek.

ל  Lamed

89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations:
thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven.   He is not the author of confusion.

 1 Corinthians 14:33

A SINNER’S PRAYER   FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL:

21Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast [throw] out.

John 6:37

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw [attract] him: and I will raise him up at the last day.  65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.  John 6:44, 65.

Call on Him,  and be saved,   … won’t you?

Pray wholeheartedly:

Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner. I’m sorry for all my sin.  Without You, there’s no hope for me .  I cannot save myself. Without your sacrifice on the cross, I would be lost and hell-bound. My sin nature produces sin.

I sin because I’m a sinner; it’s  my nature.  I’m  totally depraved.

I now know that me, doing my best, or being as good as I can, or being better than others or making excuses for myself  will never  save me.  I need You and You alone to save me.

I look to You, Lord Jesus to save me. You say in Your Word, “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  I call on You, right now Lord Jesus to save me.

Thank You, Lord Jesus,  that You love me and died on the cross to save me.

I ask that You forgive me of my sins and save me. I’m sorry…  for each and every one. I turn away from all of them and with Your help I look only to You. Thank you,  Lord Jesus  for being the Sacrifice Lamb of GOD that paid the penalty to take away the sins of the world to all who will believe.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You say,  “Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.”  I do look to You now, in faith, knowing You will save me. Thank you.

And, thank You that You made me to understand that, “…the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Thank You that you raised Jesus from the dead, victorious over sin, death and the grave and that in Him I am eternally saved.

And Holy Spirit,  I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that You guide me into all truth; be my comfort by Your witness in me; and abide alongside me to conform me to the image of the Son, The Lord Jesus Christ. in whose name and for whose sake I pray, Amen.

Let us celebrate your new birth with you and encourage you in your new life,   won’t you?

God provide for His work according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

The Apostle Paul’s gratitude, contentment and blessing is expressed here, to the Philippians. Our desire is to hold to and practice  the same expression with regards to all contributions to us here.

Our desire is for “Fruit that may abound to your account.”

Paul writes:  "For even in  [the] Thessaloni'ca [jail] ye sent  once and again unto my necessity.  Not because I  desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.  Philippians 4:17. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received the things which were sent from you, a sweet fragrance, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. …[therefore] I know that my God shall supply all your  need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:17-19.

Now unto God and our Father  be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you. All the saints salute you,

Chiefly they that are of *Caesar’s household. ]. “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be  with you all. Amen” Philippians 4:20-23

* Not only were new converts won to Christ in Caesar's household, but after their conversion they  remained to serve in that household.
They  did not abandon their post of duty because their surroundings were no longer congenial [comfortable]. [They were now out of their comfort zone.]  The truth had found them there, and there they would remain, and  by their changed life and character testify of the transforming power of their faith and new life in Jesus Christ.

PRAYER 14, Part 1 of 8

BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL! by The Gaither Congregation (Praise the Lord, together with us, won’t you?)

LORD, we are longing to draw near; may Thy Spirit draw us near. We come by the way of Christ our Mediator. We could not approach Thee, O our God, if it were not for Him, but in Him we come boldly to the throne of heavenly grace.

Nor can we come without thanksgiving — thanksgiving from the heart, such as the tongue can never express. Thou hast [have] chosen us from before the foundation of the world, and this well-head [fountain] of mercy sends forth streams of loving-kindness never ceasing. Because we were chosen we have been redeemed with precious blood.

Bless the Lord!

And we have been called by the Holy Spirit out of the world, and we have been led to obey that wondrous call which hath quickened [given new birth to] us and renewed us, and made us the people of God, given us adoption into the Divine Family.

Bless the Lord!.

[I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 243: The Trouble Within.

The wise man saith, [says] “As a bird that wandereth [wanders] from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.” It is not the box that makes the jewel, nor the place that makes the man. “Oh, but anywhere rather than this !” Yes, and when you get into the place you now covet [desire] , you will pine to be back again.

A barren tree is none the better for being transplanted. A blind man may stand at many windows before he will improve his view. If it is difficult to produce good works where you are, you will find it still difficult where you wish to be. He who said that he leaped so many yards at *Rhodes, [Ancient Olympic Games] was asked to do the same feat at home; surely the place could not take away his strength, nor give it to him. Oh, sirs, the real difficulty lies not without you, but within you.

*In ancient times there was a Roman saying: "Hic Rhodus, hic salta!"—

"Rhodes is here, [so] now perform your jump",

an admonition to prove one's idle boasts by deed rather than talk. It comes from an Aesop's fable called "The Boastful Athlete", and was cited by Hegel and Marx. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhodes

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK MARCH 31 PRESENCE OF MIND C.H. Spurgeon 1834—1892

-Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken [captive].

-Proverbs 3:25,26 -No tendras temor de pavor repentino, Ni de la ruina de los impios cuando viniere: Porque Jehova será tu confianza, Y el preservará tu pie de ser preso - Proverbios 3:25,26

When God is abroad [active] in judgments, He would not have His people alarmed. He has not come forth to harm, but to defend the righteous. He would have them manifest [show] courage. We who enjoy the presence of God ought to display presence of mind. Since the Lord Himself may suddenly come, we ought not to be surprised at anything sudden.

Serenity under the rush and roar of unexpected evils is a precious gift of divine love. The Lord would have His chosen display discrimination, [discernment] so that they may see that the desolation of the wicked is not a real calamity to the universe. Sin alone is evil; the punishment which follows thereupon is as a preserving salt to keep society from putrefying.

We should be far more shocked at the sin which deserves hell, than at the hell which comes out of sin. So, too, should the Lord’s people exhibit great quietness of spirit.

Satan and his serpent seed are full of all subtlety; but those who walk with God shall not be taken in their deceitful snares.

Go on, believer in Jesus, and let the Lord be thy confidence.

Prayer: Thank you, Father, that I don’t have to be afraid of sudden fear, nor of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes, For You, Lord shall be my confidence, and shall keep my foot from being captured. Your Peace which is beyond comprehension shall keep my heart and mind through the Lord Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, I do trust you to save and keep me. I believe you died in my place on the cross for my sins and that You were raised from the dead, victorious over death, sin, and the grave to give eternal life and Your righteousness to all that would believe in You. Thank You, Lord Jesus, Amen.

MORNING March 31

“With His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

―Por su llaga fuimos nosotros curados. ―Isaías 53:5

PILATE delivered our Lord to the lictors [executioners] to be scourged . The Roman scourge [whip] was a most dreadful instrument of torture. It was made of the sinews of oxen, and sharp bones were intertwisted every here and there among the sinews; so that every time the lash came down these pieces of bone inflicted fearful laceration [cuts], and tore off the flesh from the bone. The Savior was, no doubt, bound to the column, and thus beaten. He had been beaten before; but this of the Roman lictors was probably the most severe of His flagellations [scourgings].

My soul, stand here and weep over his poor stricken body.

Believer in Jesus, can you gaze upon Him without tears, as He stands before you the mirror of agonizing love? He is at once fair as the lily for innocence, and red as the rose with the crimson of His own blood. As we feel the sure and blessed healing which His stripes have wrought in us, does not our heart melt at once with love and grief? If ever we have loved our Lord Jesus, surely we must feel that affection glowing now within our bosoms.

See how the patient Jesus stands,

Insulted in His lowest case!

Sinners have bound the Almighty’s hands,

And spit in their Creator’s face.

With thorns His temples gored and gashed

Send streams of blood from every part;

His back’s with knotted scourges lashed.

But sharper scourges tear His heart.”

We would fain [earnestly want to] go to our chambers [room] and weep; but, since our business calls us away, we will first pray our Beloved to print the image of His bleeding self upon the tablets of our hearts all the day, and at nightfall we will return to commune with Him, and sorrow that our sins should have cost Him so dear. ________________________________________

EVENING March 31

“And Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.” ―2 Samuel 21:10

―2 Samuel 21:10

IF the love of a woman to her slain sons could make her prolong her mournful vigil for so long a period, shall we weary of considering the sufferings of our blessed Lord? She drove away the birds of prey, and shall not we chase from our meditations those worldly and sinful thoughts which defile both our minds and the sacred themes upon which we are occupied?

Away, ye birds of evil wing! Leave ye the sacrifice alone! She bore the heats of summer, the night dews and the rains, unsheltered and alone. Sleep was chased from her weeping eyes: her heart was too full for slumber. Behold how she loved her children!

Shall Rizpah thus endure, and shall we start [freeze-up] at the first little inconvenience or trial?

Are we such cowards that we cannot bear to suffer with our Lord? She chased away even the wild beasts, with courage unusual in her sex, and will not we be ready to encounter every foe for Jesus’ sake? These her children were slain by other hands than hers, and yet she wept and watched: what ought we to do who have by our sins crucified our Lord?

Our obligations are boundless, our love should be fervent [intensely passionate] and our repentance thorough [all-inclusive].

To watch [stand] with Jesus should be our business, to protect His honor, our occupation, to abide by His cross our solace.

Those ghastly corpses might well have affrighted [frightened] Rizpah, especially by night; but in our Lord, at whose cross-foot [foot of the cross] we are sitting, there is nothing revolting, but everything attractive.

Never was living beauty so enchanting as a dying Savior.

Jesus, we will watch with Thee yet a while, and do [should] Thou graciously unveil Thyself to us; then shall we not sit beneath [be dressed in] sackcloth, but

[we shall sit] in a royal pavilion .

THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS by John Bunyan

ORIGINAL: The Pilgrim’s Progress Part I  Published by Logos in 1853 from Bunyan's 1678 text.

REVISED VERSION PRINT: by Barry E. Horner: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic] ©1999

The Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most widely published and most famous  Allegory .  It was commonly found among he scant possessions in the cabins of the early American Pioneers. It was loved and read, second only to the Holy Bible, God’s Word, of guidance, encouragement and comfort. It’s also considered, by some, to be the world’s first English novel and is the most published book of all time. other than the Bible. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the author's death. It remains one of the world’s most famous books.  In allegorical genre, it is unequalled.

Pilgrim’s Progress is referenced in many Spurgeon Sermons.

Here's one example:

Christ in you, the hope of glory.”—Colossians 1:27

Note: Spurgeon was taught to read at a very early age and read The Pilgrim’s Progress for the first time when he was six years old. He would return to re-read it over 100 times.  He made many reference to it in his sermons as Pastor of  The Metropolitan Tabernacle in London.

Excerpt from heading II. § 5 THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU

"Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me [Spurgeon] of Mr. Bunyan’s picture in The Pilgrim’s Progress. of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams [ancient weapons of war] had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melodies], for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle] he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus; it is our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

Spurgeon’s Full Sermon:  Christ in You, May 13, 1883 Scripture: Colossians 1:27 From: Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 29 (cit. II. The Mystery of this is Christ In You, § 5)

It will bless, strengthen, encourage and instruct pilgrims (readers and seekers) of all ages for a life-time.

Index of the 533 Scripture References cited in The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan  1687

John Bunyan did not write or set forth any world view of any kind. His masterful allegory, demonstrably displays that God's Word does not support a world view at all but sets forth God’s view on every thing revealed and forever settled in heaven, The Holy Bible.

________________________________________

Bunyan merely, yet very ardently trusted in God’s Word; the God-breathed [divinely inspired], Self-authenticating, Providentially-protected immutable, inerrant, infallible, and inextinguishable written Word from GOD Himself. God, the omnipotent, omnipresent, righteous and Holy One, has breathed out His Word and has made His Word flesh in the birth of Jesus Christ. God’s Word is now, has always been and will forever be in perfect accord with Himself and the Spirit of Truth.

God’s infinite Love and Grace to redeem all fallen, hell-bound sinners who will look to Him is revealed by the sacrifice of His only begotten [fathered by God] Son, Jesus Christ.

The story inspiration given to Bunyan was in the form of a dream. Never the less, it imparts wisdom and may encourage soul-searching self-reflection to all pilgrims who seek redemption and eternal life. Many scripture references will  be captured and remembered from its reading [listening].

… and pray for souls to be saved and believers to be strengthened.

They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

Psalm 119:89-90

ל Lamed

89 Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations:

thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. [abides]

MISSION STATEMENT:

… Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13

Our solemn aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus in everything. We must rely upon God entirely to achieve His purposes in us and through us.

Loving and worshiping God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength in Spirit and in truth is a labor of love and duty of every believer. Desire will grow stronger as we give ourselves to prayer, reading and meditating on God’s Word, gathering ourselves together to hear Gospel preaching, the singing of Psalms, sacred hymns and spiritual songs.

We purpose, with God’s help, to reach the lost, comfort, strengthen and encourage believers, and rightly divide God’s Word to proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ to every creature.

Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature. And, to serve all, in love, especially those in the household of faith. We are compelled by this purpose to follow, and rightly apply and proclaim, God’s Holy Word, the Bible, as God’s divinely preserved truth; being the essential authority and goal of this ministry.

Mission Aim: Spurgeon's sermons and devotional messages have edified the church body and have been a great benefit, to all readers for many years. We pray they will be useful to strengthen personal discipleship in each and every believer and will be a useful instrument in the spreading of the Gospel [Good news] of Jesus Christ, the Messiah to all nations.

MISSION PURPOSE:

Our aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus Christ in everything. We rely wholly upon the Holy Spirit to impart God’s divine revelation to us from His Word, the Holy Bible. With God’s help, we will follow Jesus. We expect that lost souls will be saved, believers, comforted, strengthened and encouraged. To God be all the glory.

The Bible is God’s divinely inspired [God breathed] revealed, infinite, eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable Word to all mankind. This divine, supernatural Word brings all revealed truth to the world. We purpose, therefore, to follow God’s Holy Word, Personal guidance and guidance to the local church comes by His Word.

Hence, we resolve, God helping us, to read, study, meditate-on, trust-in and obey God’s revealed and divinely preserved Word, holding it to be the supreme authority and the only divinely established Stare Decisis [Latin: to stand by that which is decided] in all things.

Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature, ministering God’s love to all, especially those in the household of faith. The Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired, (God breathed) inerrant, infallible, unchangeable, divinely protected and preserved Word of love and salvation to the entire world. It is also the essential foundation of this ministry.

History: The inspired preaching, teaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon is all empowered by God’s revealed Word the Bible. His written publications continue to benefit readers through authentic Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. This ministry continues to flourish through The Metropolitan Tabernacle in London

Presented here are Spurgeon's writings for the edification of the church as well as for the benefit, blessing and gospel challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living Word in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ to each and every reader.

To this end, this website is offered to encourage and provide opportunity to hear Gospel preaching, and to engage in daily devotional meditation, Bible study and prayer. Careful adherence to Spurgeon’s calendar and original, unabridged text is given herein.

Prayer: Dear Lord, empower your ministry to win many souls, and serve those in need, especially those in the household of faith, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not solicit praise of Charles H. Spurgeon or his writing or preaching. He didn’t need or want it then and wouldn’t desire it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach Christ Jesus only and him crucified.

Precaution: These Messages and prayers will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus or for gathering in in-person worship. Neither will they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word imparted by the Holy Spirit.

The Authorized King James Version (AKJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV), is the authentic English Bible because it is rendered [translated into English] accurately and faithfully from the established majority of the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] manuscripts of the New Testament and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (The Jewish Tanakh)  These manuscripts are providentially protected of God, and always give a greater glory to God when compared to variant readings. The established majority manuscripts avoid doctrinal error, inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

The Authorized King James version is distinguished also by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No other [person or publisher] may print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

Printed Prayer: Printed prayers must not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. They are offered, rather, to warm the hearts of those who will presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Authentic revelations from God during prayer are always consistent with His revealed Word, the Bible.

Preaching Preparation: When preparing to preach, please send us the text reference that has been chosen if you would like us to send the Spurgeon Sermon addressing the same text.

My Prayer is that You would touch, lift up, encourage and teach all who faithfully minister your Word. Bless all who minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your blessing and holy anointing fall fresh upon each dear reader and abide with each one who rightly divides and faithfully proclaims Your Word [The Bible]. Please save many souls; and may all be glory be yours alone. I pray this in the name of our Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER:

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am lost. I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross to pay my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity in Hell. My nature and behavior has been sinful from birth. Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m sorry for each and every sin I have ever done and look to You to forgive them all.

I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.

I call on You, Lord Jesus, right now to save me. You died on the cross for me, as God’s sacrifice for my sin.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me, I trust You to be my Savior and Lord.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I want to follow You from now on.

You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.

Thank you, Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me still

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is alive and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave.

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and Holy Spirit for Your comfort and guidance in all things.

With all my heart, thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, I pray, Amen.

Philippians Chapter 4

1Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellow laborers, whose names are in the book of life.

4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. (sing-along)

5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth [strengthens] me.

14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.

19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

21 Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.

22 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Cæsar’s household.

23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
